Shelly Europe joins UN Global Compact

Svetozar Iliev, Managing Director of “Shelly Europe” Ltd.: "Sustainability is not an addition to business – it is its core"

Shelly Europe Ltd. is now an official member of the Bulgarian Network of the UN Global Compact, having joined the initiative at the end of 2023. The company sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General, committing to uphold the Ten Principles in human rights, labor standards, the environment, and anti-corruption.

Sustainability as Strategy

As part of Shelly Group, Shelly Europe integrates ESG values into every step of its business - from developing smart devices that optimize energy consumption to fostering inclusive workplace culture. “Sustainability is central to our long-term business strategy and daily operations. We enable our employees to grow, encourage diversity, and strive for continuous improvement to achieve our corporate goals,” explained Svetozar Iliev, Managing Director of Shelly Europe.

Earth Day Initiative

On April 22, the company launched its “Earth Day” campaign through the Shelly Smart Control App, in partnership with Zendure. “In short, we invited all our customers to turn off their lights for one hour on April 22 using a specially configured scene in our mobile app,” said Iliev. Users could also access exclusive discounts on energy monitoring devices, with prizes awarded to participants, showing how technology, partnerships, and engagement drive real change.

Long-Term Commitment

Shelly Europe’s sustainability focusses spans carbon reduction, renewable energy investment, ISO certifications, and strong governance. “Our membership is a natural continuation of our commitment to sustainability, but it’s also a statement of intent to take an active role in transforming the Bulgarian business environment,” Iliev emphasized.
