How does lighting control work with Smart Home

Lighting control in the smart home makes your life easier: you can control lamps automatically, via app or voice command - without any major installation effort. With the Shelly modules, you can retrofit your lighting particularly easily, as they connect your light to the WLAN without any complications.

You can use the app to change the light colour, dim the light or set schedules. You can also conveniently control your lighting system remotely - ideal if you are travelling and have forgotten to switch off a lamp. While you are on holiday, you can use the smart lighting to simulate your presence by automatically switching the lights on and off. This gives you more convenience and security at the same time!

Requirements for lighting control with the Shelly app

To control your lighting system with the Shelly app, you need a Shelly device such as the Shelly 1 flush-mounted module, which is installed behind your light switch and connects to your 2.4 GHz WLAN. Then install the free Shelly app on your smartphone or tablet. Important: Your smartphone or tablet must support at least iOS 11 or Android 6.

After registering in the app, add the Shelly device and configure it. Make sure that your Wi-Fi is stable and that the Shelly device receives sufficient signal strength. A neutral conductor is often required at the installation site. The Shelly 1L can be used in older buildings without a neutral conductor.
